27 – Currituck County

Love on the Run 5K
February 2020 – Jarvisburg

Currituck is one of those counties we have been to numerous times, but never been able to find a race to coincide with our trips.
As luck would have, not only did we finally find a 5K but it was held at Sanctuary Vineyards, one of our favorites here in NC. It was a real treat after the run to have a couple glasses of wine, and we got a few bottles to bring home.
Race start was 39 but sunny & not much wind. It could have been much worse…. although it was still too cold for me! (Not sure I was in my right mind when I signed up for a February race.)
This was the most trail race I’ve done to date. Not an inch of paved path. We got to hop over a fallen tree, run through the vineyards, and along beside the huge watering setup. I managed to not fall and avoid most of the mud along the way. It certainly was a challenge not tripping along the way, but I finished in one piece and had a lovely run through the vineyard.
